The deal splits into a US$15 billion (QR54.6 billion) public equities mandate and a US$5 billion (QR18.2 billion) private markets initiative targeting US middle-market companies.
Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and J.P. Morgan Asset Management signed a memorandum of understanding recently to establish a US$20 billion (QR72.8 billion) investment partnership spanning public and private markets.
The agreement has two components, the organisations said. The larger is a US$15 billion (QR54.6 billion) public equities mandate under which J.P. Morgan Asset Management will manage customised global equity portfolios on behalf of QIA. The second is a US$5 billion (QR18.2 billion) private markets initiative through which the two will provide senior financing to middle market companies in the US, with a focus on the industrials, services, healthcare, and technology sectors.
Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi, CEO of QIA, said the collaboration would help unlock new opportunities for both organisations. “We are pleased to grow our partnership with J.P. Morgan Asset Management and gain access to one of the world’s leading global equity and private credit platforms,” he said in a statement.
Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset and Wealth Management, said the firm would draw on its investment capabilities across public and private markets to deliver solutions for Qatar Investment Authority. “It’s a privilege to partner with QIA on this strategic initiative,” she said in a statement.
